Cordless Window Shades
For many people, finding out that there are cordless window shades comes as quite a
relief.
Though cords do have their functional benefits, when you don’t want the strings hanging
down for one reason or another, you would still like to have more options available to you for window coverings
than just fabric roller shades. After all, there are safety issues with cords, and you may simply dislike the
look or the fact that they can become tangled.
Families with young children should always opt for fabric roller shades or other cordless window shades because
the dangling strings present a hazard to children who can become tangled within them. Then again, other
families may simply become frustrated with the fact that every time they want to open or close the blinds, the
string becomes tangled, making it difficult or virtually impossible to change the setting of the window
covering. Moreover, many people find the look of strings hanging down on one or both sides of their
windows to be quite unappealing.
Therefore, if you’ve decided that cordless window shades are the ideal option for you,
then all you need to do is head to the window covering, home décor, or home renovation store and pick out the one
you like. Bring home your purchase and you’re ready to install them.
Cordless Window Shades - Installation Tips
To do this, there are a few simple steps that you can follow. The first is to find
out of you should be hanging your cordless window shades outside the frame of the window or within it. Once
you’ve decided, don’t forget to go over the directions that should have come with your purchase. They will
tell you how you should be positioning the brackets that hold up the blinds, and give you recommendations for the
rest of the installation.
Don’t forget to measure everything that you do (twice) and have a pencil handy to mark
your places so that you’ll know where to screw in the brackets or where to pre-drill the holes that will hold the
anchors and screws for the brackets. If you are placing a screw directly into the wall without an anchor, it
will still be handy if you drill a starter hole for each one. Then you simply need to hold the bracket for the
cordless window shades over top of the premade holes and screw them into place. When all of your brackets are
solidly attached to the wall or the frame, then you are ready to follow the directions for sliding the cordless
window shades into them so that they will be properly held up.
Remember that the directions that come with your cordless window shades are the best
guidance you have for properly hanging them the first time, without having to move the brackets and try
again. Read them carefully and understand them before you get started.
